This Land 03:50
This land is your land… this land is my land. From California… to the New York island. From the redwood forest… to the Gulf Stream waters. This land is here for you and me. As I went walking that ribbon of highway... i saw above me that endless skyway... i saw below me… a peaceful valley. This land is here for you and me. I roamed and rambled… and followed my footsteps... to the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts... and all around me… a voice was sounding... This land is here for you and me. The sun came shining as i was strolling through the wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling. The fog was lifting... and a voice came a-chanting… This land is here for you and me. This land is your land… this land is my land. From California… to the New York island. From the redwood forest… to the Gulf Stream waters. This land is here for you and me. As i was walking… i saw a sign there... and the sign said no trespassing... but the other side didn’t say nothin’... That side was there for you and me. Nobody livin’ can ever stop me as i go walkin’ that freedom highway. Nobody livin’ can ever make me turn back... Cos this land is here for you and me. In the squares of the city… in the shadows of the steeple... near the county pantry i see my people. And some are grumblin’... some are wonderin’... If this land is here for you and me…?? ...AND I SCREAMED…

Harvest Crew 03:05
It’s hard for a woman to light in this world... with men who feel threatened by unafraid girls... who strike a fine balance ‘tween helpless and wise... then fight the hearth battles the rest of their lives. I live on the poor side my extras are few... approached by a boy in the harvester’s crew. He hits me up daily… by night and by day... then they all get loaded and he goes away. Your parents don’t like me because i speak plain. They say there’s no way we can weather the strain. I work for my money… i buy my own boots… and if they don’t like me they can just pass on through. Your guitar is mellow come change up your strings. Come sit down beside me… and harmony sing. My guitar... it shimmers… it don’t need new strings... and fare thee well darling… i can’t wear your ring. Your truck is near empty… your phone is near dead. Come sit down beside me as long as you can. My truck warmed up now… my phone’s in my hand... and fare thee well darling… no longer to stand.

Pulp & Ink 02:38
In the days of 2001… pulp & ink! In the days of 2001… pulp & ink! In the days of 2001… Writin’ news is all i done. Hand me down my pulp… My pulp… my pulp & ink. In the days of 2002… pulp & ink! In the days of 2002… pulp & ink! In the days of 2002… Writin’ news is all i do. Hand me down my pulp… My pulp… my pulp & ink. In the days of 2003… pulp & ink! In the days of 2003… pulp & ink! In the days of 2003… Writin’s all i care to be. Hand me down my pulp… My pulp… my pulp & ink. In the days of 2004… pulp & ink! In the days of 2004… pulp & ink! Since the days of 2004… I don’t write news any more. Throw away my pulp… My pulp… my pulp & ink. They invented internet… pulp & ink! They invented internet… pulp & ink! They invented internet… Now ANYONE can hypertext Throw away my pulp… My pulp… my pulp & ink. Reach a 100 folks to my one… pulp & ink! Reach a 1000 folks to my one… pulp & ink! Reach 10,000 folks to my one… This used to be fun. Throw away my pulp… My pulp… my pulp & ink. Come you ink-stained wretch.

Misfit in the country… rebel on a deep red sea. Sometimes i wonder where we get the outrage energy. Ride the bucking trends… we’re all neighbors and friends... and revel in the human company… cos... The coolest place in the world is all I see. Bill Gates… and Lady Ga Got nuthin’ on me. I don’t need to work in Hollywood or Nashville Tennessee... i don’t need no botox... corn-row plugs… or plastic surgery. I got everything I need… it’s right in front of me. The coolest place in the world is all i see. Misfit on the metro… it moves too fast for me. And hard to find kindness in a cold gray concrete sea. But i can play this guitar… and boost this energy. The city on the hill’s luminosity. The coolest place in the world will follow me. It’s my urban cowboy philosophy. I don’t mind tilting windmills… strange possibilities. I don’t need proud illusions to boost my self esteem. Everything’s in play... what will be will surely be. The coolest place in the world will follow me. Misfit in the church… up the academy. Miracles and myths… Inexplicability. I don’t need persistent ... existential certainties. But every day’s a gift… can’t you see ??? The coolest place in the world is where i’ll be. Love will win the day just wait and see. I don’t fear creation... or the void of infinity. I don’t need to cling to memes or things... it’s all illusory. I am the multiverse... The multiverse is me…!!

Bitterkiss 03:19
When you’re close… enough to burn… open hearts can always learn… that deep inside the gut returns to take the reins. Flights of love… rubies and chains... volumes and scrolls will not explain why the fire behind her eyes has gotta fade. But when she dreams nothing can stop her. She commands a starship cruiser… and the shroud falls when morning comes and she prays… BitterKiss… Oh yeeaaah … One more for the road And the river flows… and so it goes. Can’t stop the wheel… she knows. Like a misty crooked smile behind the pain. Let ‘em spin… let ‘em growl. Pack your bags... get outta town. Not a speck of sound of sermons on the plain. But when she dreams… nothing can stop her. She commands the starship cruiser… and the shroud falls when morning comes and she prays… BitterKiss… Oh yeeaaah… One more for the road Joy… it's all she’s ever wanted… but then she turns her tiller south. Bliss… it's one thing she won't live without... it burns all the way down… BitterKiss… oh yeeaaah... one more... BitterKiss… oh yeeaaah… just one more... BitterKiss… oh yeeaaah… one more for the road

Lucky Ones 03:34
Just a small town kitty with a map of the city and not much else to claim… picked up a one-way ticket outta here… to find fortune and fame. Well i don’t know much of livin’ high… never had too much at all… So i really admire that girl who left here… to find fortune and fame. With a tear and a beer… she tried to explain… how she tried and tried but did not live up to her name. And the deacons… the merchants… the coffee-shop congress agree… that she couldn’t have picked a better time to break free. One flew over to see what she could see… one flew over only… to discover the things ya gotta trade for the dream. There’s a feeling around here… echos of sadness i can’t seem to trace. One more time at the wishin’ well… such a lonely lovely place. It seems the American Dream… only boats against the tide… drifting… shifting… always outta reach… like pin lights ‘cross the great divide. A public socialite she had come to be… not a soul saw her off… save for me. And the fakers… the takers… the singles-bar congress agreed… that she couldn’t have picked a better time to leave. One flew over to see what she could see… one flew over… only… to discover some things ya gotta trade for the dream. Aren’t we the lucky ones? We are the lucky ones... to have the dream.

Thank You 03:15
Thank you for being a friend… traveled down a road and back again. Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant. I'm not ashamed to say… i hope it always will stay this way. My hat is off, won't you stand up and take a bow. And if you threw a party… invited everyone you knew. Well, you would see the biggest gift would be from me And the card attached would say... Thank you for being a friend! If it's a car you lack… i'd surely buy you a Cadillac. Whatever you need, any time of the day or night. I'm not ashamed to say… i hope it always will stay this way. My hat is off, won't you stand up and take a bow. And when we both get older... with walking canes and hair of gray... have no fear, even though it's hard to hear... i will stand real close and say... Thank you for being a friend! And when we die and float away... Into the night, the Milky Way... You'll hear me call as we ascend... I'll see you there, then once again... Thank you for being a friend!

about

This one takes the folkie vibe to another level. Just Ronnie Hays and his trusty acoustic guitars. This, at the suggestion of his closest amigos but also inspired by a couple "big-time" icons (Steve Earle and John Mayer) whose current tours are stripped all the way down to their instruments and voices. And since Ronnie Hays answers only to his muse and his amigos, he goes where they take him. It’s the dream of many artists to have this kind of independence. The flip-side is, however, anything that happens in the way of career advancement, ya gotta do yourowndamnself... ;-)

So... does Ronnie Hays worry about keeping busy in the “golden years?”

Oh... hell to the no…
There's ALWAYS be something to do.

Hey… hey… we’re the geezers…
People say we’re geezin’ around…
But we’re too busy singin’…
To put anybody down…

Hey… hey… we’re the geezers…
You never know where we’ll be found…
So… you better get ready…
Cos we’re comin’ to your town… 😉

SHOUT OUTS:
Other than the dank cover spread by super-hero, "Otterman the Bruce", Rohlfie was on his own for another one. That said, mad gratitude is extended (always) to the software engineers at Adobe, Google, Microsoft, Avid, and eMaster, without which none of these digital artifacts would exist. After that, the designers and luthiers with Gibson, Fender, Martin, Simon & Patrick, and Ibanez for the wonderful instruments anyone would be fortunate enough to have in their collection...

Thank you...
Thank you...
THANK you!
